Teaching
Relevancy for practice
The Institute of Accounting and Control encourages the exchange of knowledge between science and the public, and therefore provides courses focusing on the practical application of managerial accounting. Thus, in addition to lectures of Prof. Wagenhofer and the other faculty members, external lecturers teach the following courses for undergraduate and graduate students:
- Bachelor's program Business Administration:
- "Practice of Controlling" (part of the bachelor courses in "Managerial Accounting"; Markus Enzinger, Walter Frühwirt, Wolfgang Kabelka, Günter Kradischnig)
- Master's program Business Administration:
- "Controlling and Corporate Governance" (part of the master courses in "Managerial Accounting"; Martin Sailer)
- "Corporate Management in Decentralized Organizations" (part of the master courses in "Managerial Accounting"; Werner Kolarik)
- "International Accounting Standards" (part of the master courses in "Accounting and Audit"; Helmut Kerschbaumer)
- "IT-Supported Management Accounting" (part of the master courses in "Managerial Accounting"; Gerhard Jurasek)
Academic Excellence
Besides our focus on the linkage of theory and practice in undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Accounting Research and the Doctoral Program in Accounting, Reporting, and Taxation involve top-class scientists of well-known universities as guest lecturers. So far, e.g., Catherine M. Schrand and Robert E. Verrecchia (both Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania) as well as Christian Leuz (University of Chicago Booth School of Business) were teaching in our doctoral program.
Support of Faculty
All lecturers teaching at the Institute of Accounting and Control receive organizational support by Marika Adam. Additionally, Dr. Birgit Beinsen provides assistance to lecturers teaching courses for the CAR or within the DART.
